Holiday Overview
A wonderful week by the sea! This section of the Southwest Coast Path is renowned for being quieter than most, offering spectacular walking with a wilder atmosphere.
Good paths lead along the broad cliff-top, giving views across to South Wales and Lundy Island. And, of course, now and then we encounter (and take advantage of) a welcome coffee shop or two!

Itinerary
Day 1 - Foreland Point
If you can, join us on the arrival day by 1:30 pm for a half day local exploration of the Lynmouth area along to Foreland Point so that you can meet your fellow walkers and get to know the area close by.
[3 hours of walking]
For those who are unable to arrive by then, join us for dinner at 6:30 pm, after which we will talk through our planned programme.
Day 2 - Minehead to Porlock Weir
This is the very first leg of the famous South West Coast Path (SWCP) and provides an inspiring start to our walking holiday. Quite a full day for a Grade 2 programme, but one which we will take at a slow pace so that we can enjoy the amazing views out to sea and across to the Welsh coast.
[6-7 hours walking]
Day 3 - Valley of Rocks
A classic day! We walk from our hotel out along the famous Valley of Rocks trail with stunning views seaward and a range of impressive weather-sculptured rocks above us. Lunch is taken at the delightful Woody Bay where a natural swimming pool hides among the rocks. The path then continues past a Roman Fort to land us at Hunters Inn, where we can take refreshments and rest our legs until our transfer arrives.
[5-6 hours walking]
Day 4 - Wild Pear Beach
Starting at Hunter's Inn, we continue along a breath-taking stretch of coast path with unforgettable views, all the way until we descend to Wild Pear Beach to pull off our boots and relax. A final short leg takes us to the busy seaside town of Combe Martin where we pick up our transport back to the hotel.
[5-6 hours walking]
Day 5 - East Lyn River
We walk the tracks close to Lynton, along the Coleridge Way to see the waterfalls on the East Lyn River, returning through the wooded glades to Lynmouth. We aim to finish our programme by 2 pm.
[4 hours walking]
Please note that the above itinerary is subject to weather conditions being favourable. Walking times shown are approximations and may vary. Our aim, above all, is to make the right choice each day so that we enjoy the most appropriate route for the conditions.
Accommodation
Our base is The Crown Hotel, a welcoming country inn set in the heart of Lynton. It offers extremely comfortable pub-style accommodation including some 4-poster rooms and suites. For our walking, too, it is a great spot, being right next to the SWCP as it weaves through the terraced gardens of Lynton - a great place to come back to at the end of a rewarding day's walk.
