Book with Confidence - our Terms and Conditions of Booking

1. OUR PROMISE

Our business aim is to be a caring provider of fantastic, environmentally-kind walking holidays. We also aim to meet the individual needs of our customers, and will always do our best to work with you in the event that you, or we, have to make changes to bookings.

All bookings made with ‘Skyline Walking Holidays Limited’, here referred to as ‘Skyline’ or 'Skyline Walking Holidays', are subject to the following booking conditions which, together with the literature provided when booking, form a contract between you and Skyline, trading as ‘Skyline Walking Holidays Limited’.

Skyline Walking Holidays cannot take responsibility for any misunderstanding arising by a customer not reading or not understanding the information we provide. If anything is unclear then please do get in touch so that we can clarify.

2. THE BOOKING PROCESS

Our booking procedure is as follows:-

Once we have received your booking deposit, your booking is officially confirmed. Our confirmation email forms a contract between us and will come into effect from the date of the confirmation to you.

By submitting payment, you indicate that you accept the terms outlined here and direct us to perform services on your behalf. All persons named in the booking form are subject to this agreement, and by accepting these terms you also confirm that all of your parties accept them.

3. PAYMENTS

Our preferred payment method is by BACS transfer.  Please use the following account details to do this:

Online payments can be made by debit/credit card, Shop Pay, Google Pay or PayPal.

Participants’ holiday reservations will be secured upon receipt of a deposit of £150.00. Deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable.

The balance of payment is due 45 days prior to the holiday commencement date and we will email at an appropriate time to remind you to send this payment. If you are booking within 45 days of the commencement date of a holiday, the whole cost of the holiday is payable with confirmation of booking. Places are guaranteed once all monies have been received.

All client monies are held in a dedicated clients’ money account and not accessed by us until after the walking holiday has been completed.

Any holidays we provide outside the UK will be ABTA/ ATOL bonded for your protection.

4. CANCELLATION BY US FOR OTHER REASONS

Very occasionally we do not receive sufficient bookings to offer the advertised holiday and on these occasions, we will offer alternative dates to you. If these are not acceptable, all payments made will be fully refunded. However, we cancel holidays only as a last resort and may proceed with a holiday even if only 1 or 2 people are attending. We cannot be held responsible for cancellations due to unforeseen circumstances, such as war, civil unrest, natural disaster or any other situation that is beyond our control.

5. CANCELLATIONS BY YOU

If you have to cancel, the cancellation will be subject to our terms as set out below:

More than 45 days notice loss of deposit only
45 - 21 days notice loss of 75% of holiday cost
21 days notice or less

loss of 100% of holiday cost

Cancellations must be confirmed in writing (letter or email). These cancellation charges will be implemented in all cases. We also reserve the right to deduct from any refund due, any venue cancellation charges incurred by Skyline.

If the balance is not received in full by the due date, we reserve the right to treat the booking as cancelled by you and apply cancellation charges as set out above.

Skyline reserves the right to cancel or refuse any booking, at which time we will refund all monies paid. Skyline reserves the right to change the itinerary of any holiday where circumstances dictate (for example, we may alter our planned itinerary due to weather).

All information provided through the Skyline website and communication is correct to the best of our knowledge at the time of publication.

6. UNSPECIFIED EXCURSIONS

If participants take any additional transportation or excursions during a holiday (e.g. a taxi service) for journeys which are not specified in our agreed itinerary, then participants are required to pay the supplier of the transportation service directly.

7. CONSIDERING OTHERS AND THE ENVIRONMENT

Walking in the hills gives us a great chance to really appreciate the special environment around us. It is integral to our work to act in a caring way towards the environment we enjoy. We ask that all participants be thoughtful about this care for the world around us and avoid doing damage or leaving litter etc.

Please see our page on Caring For The Environment, which outlines our mission to promote sustainable walking holidays in which we enjoy beautiful places while taking great care of them.

We reserve the right to refuse a client’s participation on any walk if it is considered that they are either in personal danger to themselves or that they may endanger others on the walks. Customers also agree to respect the needs of the natural environment as well as the authority of our holiday leaders, who will seek to ensure the safety of all participants and other parties encountered at all times.

If, in the opinion of the leader, your behaviour is likely to cause danger, distress or annoyance, we may terminate your attendance of the holiday without any liability falling to Skyline.

All matters arising from Participants’ contracts with ‘Skyline’ are governed by English Law and are subject to the jurisdiction of the UK courts.

Acceptance of the above conditions is implied when you make a booking and this constitutes the limit of our liabilities.

8. PETS

We regret that no pets may be brought along on our walking holidays.

9. HOLIDAY INSURANCE

We recommend that all participants have their own travel insurance so that they are covered in the event of their own late cancellation, personal accident, illness or loss of possessions. Skyline and its servants and agents cannot accept any responsibility for loss or damage to participants’ luggage or for any illness or injury participants might suffer whilst on holiday except when Skyline Walking Holidays are proven in law either to be in breach of our contractual duty or to have been negligent. We also cannot accept responsibility for any loss or consequence resulting from circumstances beyond our control.

10. HEALTH AND FITNESS LEVELS

GRADE 1: Our 'Easy' walking holidays are aimed at those who prefer to take things at a slower pace. We will spend no more than 5-6 hours of any day on our guided walks and the rest of the time is for you to relax, undertake your own walks, or just do your own thing. Our walk leaders will be delighted to suggest routes and local attractions that may appeal to you if you wish.

GRADE 2: Our 'Easy to Moderate' walking holidays will be taken at a slow pace, although the walking day might be a little longer - around 6 hours. There may be some gentle uphill walking, but this will be taken slowly. Again, there will be ample time for breaks and refreshments, and our aim will be to walk at a pace that everyone can easily manage.

GRADE 3: Our ‘Moderate’ walking holidays are designed for those who are fit enough to walk for up to 5-7 hours in a day. However, our aim is to stop for plenty of breaks and to admire the views, and to generally enjoy moving at a moderate pace along our route. There may be some straightforward ascents to some of the smaller peaks, for example, Ingleborough in the Yorkshire Dales.

GRADE 4: ‘Moderate to Challenging’ walking holidays: - These holidays are tougher, and for those who are happy walking for 6-7 hours a day, sometimes with a fair amount of ascent involved. Typical walks might visit some of the larger hill summits in the Lake District, for example, The Old Man of Coniston and the Langdale Pikes.

GRADE 5: ‘Challenging’ walking holidays: - These holidays are for those who are happy walking for 6-8 hours a day, with a substantial amount of ascent involved. Typical walks might visit the highest summits in the Lake District, for example, Scafell Pike and Helvellyn.

Please see the individual holiday outlines to assess which are most suitable for you.

Skyline assumes participants have a reasonable level of health and fitness, appropriate to the holiday that has been booked. Please let us know of any medical condition that may affect your holiday in advance. In addition to this, please advise us at the time of booking if you have any special dietary requirements. We will then pass on this information to accommodation providers. We will do our utmost to ensure that you can come along and that you will be comfortable and safe, but it helps us to know of such conditions in advance.

11. PERSONAL WALKING EQUIPMENT

We will provide you with a full kit list of what to bring in our joining information, but essentially, each participant agrees to bring well-fitting boots, waterproofs and a small rucksack. We do not provide personal equipment for you.

12. PHOTOS

In regard to any photos of your holiday in which you appear, we may use these in promotional material unless you prefer that we don't - in which case please just let our leader or our office know and, of course, we will be very happy to do as you wish.

13. COMPLAINTS

We hope your holiday is everything you hoped it would be and more, but if you do wish to complain about any aspect then please address this in the first instance to your walk leader as soon as possible. We will do our best to find an immediate solution. If for some reason the problem is not immediately resolved to your satisfaction, please contact us in writing within 14 days of the end of your holiday. We will again try to offer a solution that meets with your approval, but if this is not possible, then any dispute arising from the contract between us will, in the final case, be governed by UK law.
