Borrowdale and Scafell Pike: Photos from the trip

A huge thanks and well done to those who came along on our summer Borrowdale week (July 29th-Aug 2nd).  This is perhaps the most challenging walking week in the Skyline calendar, and so special congratulations are in order! (Details below).

We were lucky with the weather and managed to complete the full itinerary, including reaching the top of Scafell Pike for those who chose that option.

Some of these photos were kindly supplied by group members and tell the story of our superb 5-day guided break, including hill summits such as Scafell Pike, Maiden Moor, Cat Bells, and High Spy, and delightful valley walks to Lingholm Gardens (superb coffee!), and the scenic shores of Derwentwater lake.

Thanks also to the excellent Glaramara Hotel who once again hosted our group and provided a warm welcome and top-notch dining to start and end each day.

A few feedback comments from the week:

‘Excellent walking holiday in Borrowdale Fabulous walking routes, great hotel and food. The group was a lovely mix of people. Thoroughly enjoyable.’

‘Great food with plenty of choice. Service good, rooms very clean and comfortable.’

‘The hotel is located in a beautiful and very calm spot, very close to all the walking starting points. The staff was very kind and took good care of us. The meals were excellent! The fact that it has a bus stop 5' away makes it very convenient. It was the best place to be after a good day's walk’

‘This was the best of walking trips! Steve took good care of us at all times, creating the best atmosphere among the walkers. The walks took us through and to places of astonishing beauty and the Glaramara Hotel was the perfect place to come to at the end of the day. To be able to get there by public transport was another asset of the trip.’

2025 Save the date!!!

Skyline will be back at The Glaramara Hotel for the Skyline Winter break January 16-19th 2025 and July 28-August 1st 2025.  Our full 2025 programme is due out next week.
