Our 'Easy to Moderate' walking holidays are aimed at those who prefer to take things at a slower pace, but who are happy to be out walking for 5-6 hours a day. There will be ample time for breaks and refreshments, and our aim will be to walk at a pace that everyone can easily manage. The paths we take are usually good, although some ascent and descent is involved. We expect to walk around 7 to 9 miles over a full day, allowing time for breaks, the occasional cafe & loo stop, and to take photos.

How to get there: Rydal Hall is situated 2 miles north of Ambleside in Cumbria. Postcode LA22 9LX. Drive, or take the train to Windermere and complete the journey (6 miles) by taxi or bus from the railway station. We will supply contact details of taxis and information about bus transfers and the costs of these.

Programme: If you can, join us on the arrival day by 1.30 pm for a half day local walk to get to know the others in our group and the environment close by. For those who are unable to arrive by then, join us for dinner at 6.30 pm, when we will talk through our planned programme.
On days 2, 3 and 4 we will offer guided walking (around 6 hours on day 2 and 3, and 4 hours on day 4) making plenty of stops for refreshments and to appreciate the views. We will finish our walk by 1.30 pm on the departure day to leave time for you to travel home..

On our Autumn in Lakeland programme, join a small group (maximum 10 people) to be guided on some of the most inspiring low-level walking England has to offer, and at a time of year when the Lake District is at its most colourful and dramatic. At the end of the day take time to enjoy the architecture and grounds of Rydal Hall, have a drink at the nearby Badger Bar, walk in the footsteps of William Wordsworth, or just do your own thing!
To book, please send your booking request using the form on this page and we will be in touch very soon to confirm your place and to request a booking deposit.

Rydal Hall is a grand house, once the home of the Le Fleming family who were landowners nearby. It occupies a unique position, raised a little above the surrounding woodland to give long views to the south-west, and enjoying a perfect sunny aspect. The mature grounds are still well cared for, containing a varied collection of trees from around the world, as well as a neatly-kept formal garden and fountain. Behind the coffee shop, a mile-long string of tumbling cascades brings water down from the mountains and into Windermere.
This is also a superb hub for walking, with so many routes starting straight from the front door: all in all, a great place for a walking holiday!
